A story related by Jeff Nielsen, a great nephew, relates how Walter and Marie went to Minnesota one time and purchased some land at night. In the daytime when they saw what they had purchased they found it to be rocky and not good ground.

     Anna J. Urban was born on 6 November 1894 at Osceola, Nebraska.¹ She married Oswald James Alt, son of Joseph Alt and Caroline Zwiener, circa 1915. Anna J. Urban died on 29 November 1944 at age 50.¹ She was buried after 29 November 1944 at Chicago, Illionois.¹

     Peter Seberger was born on 14 January 1870 at Council Bluffs, Iowa. He married Anna Alt, daughter of Karl Franz Alt and Cazilia Schulmeister, on 14 January 1896 at St. Joseph's Church, Bellwood, Nebraska.¹ Peter Seberger died on 22 February 1963 at Shelby, Nebraska, at age 93. He was buried after 22 February 1963 at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Shelby, Nebraska.

     Edward D Mayberger was born on 18 August 1866 at Austro Hungarian Empire.^1,2,3,4 He married Franziska Alt, daughter of Frank Alt and Cazilia Schulmeister, on 25 November 1902 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellwood, Nebraska.^5,6,7 Edward D Mayberger is also reported to have died on 15 September 1941 at Columbus, Platte County, Nebraska, at age 75.⁶ He is also reported to have died on 16 September 1941 at age 75.⁸ He died on 18 September 1941 at 1815 9 St, Columbus, Platte County, Nebraska, at age 75.^2,9,4 He was buried at St Bonaventure Cemetery, Columbus, Platte County, Nebraska.¹⁰
     He was also known as Eduard.³ After 1887 he carried mail with a mule from Columbus to Fullerton. After this for nine years until he was thirty years of age, he was a fireman on the Union Pacific Railroad between Omaha, Nebraska and Green River, Wyoming. He is listed on the census as a farmer on the family homestead. Uncle Ed lived on a dairy farm near Columbus. It was large and they delivered milk in 1900.¹¹ He was also known by the last name of Mehrberger. E.D. Mayberger was the secretary for the Platte County, Columbus Township School District from 1907-1922. He was treasurer from 1926-1930.¹² After 1910 Edward's children were educated at St Francis Academy.² He resided circa 1930 at 2709 15th St, Columbus, Platte County, Nebraska.¹³

     Aurelia Alt was born on 21 September 1890 at Rising City, Nebraska.¹ She married Oswald E. Bernt Sr. on 28 November 1916 at Sacred Heart Church, Shelby, Nebraska.² Aurelia Alt died on 3 October 1932 at Polk County, Nebraska, at age 42.¹ She was buried after 3 October 1932 at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Shelby, Nebraska.²
     She was educated circa 1908 at District #20 Bluffton School. Her married name was Bernt.²

     John Carl Alt was born on 13 January 1891 at On a farm north of Columbus, Platte County, Nebraska.^2,3 He married Clara Theresa Bernt on 30 April 1917 at St. Andrew's Church, north of Osceola, Nebraska.² John Carl Alt died on 23 January 1946 at Shelby, Nebraska, at age 55.⁴ He was buried after 23 January 1946 at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Shelby, Nebraska.⁴
     He was a farmer circa 1917.⁵ He registered for the WWI draft on circa 1918 at Polk County, Nebraska.³
