     Johann Rupprecht was born on 29 October 1836 at # 45, Girsig; Teresia Spreiger from Girsig # 41 was the midwife.3 He began military service before 29 April 1867; He was a private soldier in reserve of the Imperial & Royal 54th Infantry Regiment. Note: The 54th Imperial and Royal Infantry regiment headquartered in Olomouc (Olmutz in German language) and its soldiers were recruited from Olomouc and surrounding districts.4 He married Martha Alt, daughter of Karl Josef Alt and Anna Genowefa Turk, on 29 April 1867 at Girsig.4 Johann Rupprecht was a cottager on 23 April 1868.5 He moved on circa 1901 to Steve Ryan's farm, 5 miles NW of, Columbus, Platte County, Nebraska.6 John Rupprecht, section foreman at Olean, died at seven o'clock Friday morning, 8 Mar 1901, after a brief illness with inflammation of the stomach. He died of apoplexy. John Rupprecht, aged 65 years, and who lived on Steve Ryan's farm northeast from the city five miles, died last Friday and was buried Sunday, funeral services at the Catholic Church this city, burial in the cemetery near by. He has been ailing for some time with asthma; apoplexy was the immediate cause of death. He was born in Austria, came here in 1884, and leaves a widow, one son and daughter.7,8,9,10 He was buried on 10 March 1901 at St Bonaventure Cemetery, Columbus, Platte County, Nebraska; he is buried in Row 21, Section 4 of this cemetery.11,12

     Robert James Rupprecht was born on 30 April 1879 at # 45, Girsig.2,3,4 He immigrated on 18 June 1885 to Port of New York, New York, New York County, New York; Robert traveled on the steamship "North German LLoyd" with his mother & father, sister Martha and brother Adolph.5,6 He worked as a laborer for Janicke Brothers in 1901 at Butler County, Nebraska.6 He married Katherine Josephine Liebig, daughter of Joseph Leibig and Mary Wagner, on 10 October 1905 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Platte Center, Platte County, Nebraska.7,6 Robert James Rupprecht and Katherine Josephine Liebig resided after 10 October 1905 on a farm, Columbus, Platte County, Nebraska.6 Robert James Rupprecht was naturalized on 27 March 1906 at District Court, Columbus, Platte County, Nebraska.8,9,10,11 He and Katherine Josephine Liebig moved in 1909 to Cedar Rapids, Boone County, Nebraska.12,6 Robert James Rupprecht bought Edwards Bradford Hardware Company in 1916 at Cedar Rapids, Boone County, Nebraska.6 He worked in the hardware business 1917 at Cedar Rapids, Boone County, Nebraska, until the time of his death.6 He died on 22 February 1937 at Cedar Precinct, Cedar Rapids, Boone County, Nebraska, at age 57; He died of a cerebral hemorrage and pneumonia at 11:20 PM at his home.2,3,6,13 He was buried on 25 February 1937 at St Anthony's Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Boone County, Nebraska; pall bearers were C.H. Bethscheider, G.M. Van Ackeren, F.J. Goering, J.J. Gillsdorf, Anton & Frank Batenhorst. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Catherine and Coletta Ripp and Arthur Lippold of Omaha, Fred and Henry Lippold of Randolph, Mr. & Mrs. Adolph Liebig and son, John Schumacher, Wm. Larson, John and Joe Liebig of Platte Center; Peter and William Hengler, Mrs. Lena Rupprecht and sons of Columbus; Mr. and Mrs. Emil Ripp, Peter Ripp and Mrs. Henry Ripp of Kearney, and Mrs. Adolph Ripp of Amherst.6 He belonged to the following organizations: Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, Cedar Rapids Community Club, Royal Highlanders Lodge. He was also a volunteer fireman for many, many years.6 He had talent in music; he played the violin in his younger days; he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, tennis and golf.6
