     Karl Mehrberger was born on 16 March 1834 at # 28, Girsig; Theresia Brauer was the midwife. Betty Lou O'Leske notes a birth date of 8 March, 1834 for Carl.1 He married Anna Muller, daughter of Alois Muller and Klara Klein, on 6 November 1855 at # 28.1,2 He was a Gartler on 16 November 1860.3 Carl Mehrberger, his wife Anna and their seven children departed in January 1868 from Hamburg on the steamship Westphalia for the United States.4 Karl Mehrberger emigrated in 1869 from Hamburg, Havre.5 He immigrated on 11 August 1869 to New York, New York.5 He and Anna Muller appeared on the census of 25 June 1870 at Monroe Precint, Platte County, Nebraska.6 On 2 October 1876 at Platte County, Nebraska, Karl and Anna Muller Mehrberger's daughter, May, age 20, marries Walter Martin, age 27, in Platte County. Presiding over the wedding was J.M. Ryan, Pastor. Walter is the son of Walter Martin. His mother is not indicated in the record.7 Karl Mehrberger was fully naturalized on 24 November 1876 at Columbus, Platte County, Nebraska; he was finally sworn in as a citizen of the U.S..8 He married Franciska Till, daughter of Joseph Till and Lena Schungel, on 26 July 1877 at Columbus Catholic Church, Columbus, Platte County, Nebraska; presiding over the marriage was Father Sebostedins.7 Karl Mehrberger appeared on the census of 2 June 1880 at Lost Creek, Platte County, Nebraska. He was land transactor on 20 October 1880 at Platte County, Nebraska; he allowed the Omaha Niobrara & Black Hills Railroad Company a Quick Claim Deed for part of his land for $125.00.9 Living with Carl and his wife Frances were Lena age 20, Minnie age 18 and Charles age 13.10 He died on 19 June 1906 at Lost Creek Township, Platte County, Nebraska, at age 72; Karl dies of chronic dropsy. He is buried in Columbus, Nebraska. He is listed as being a farmer at the time of his death.11,12

     Franciska Till was born on 8 July 1848; Funeral record states that she was born in Germany.1 She married Karl Mehrberger, son of Johann Josef Mehrberger and Ann Theresia Tollich, on 26 July 1877 at Columbus Catholic Church, Columbus, Platte County, Nebraska; presiding over the marriage was Father Sebostedins.2 Living with Carl and his wife Frances were Lena age 20, Minnie age 18 and Charles age 13.3 Franciska Till resided before 11 April 1928 at 1815 14th St, Columbus, Platte County, Nebraska.1 She died on 11 April 1928 at Columbus, Platte County, Nebraska, at age 79.4,1 She was buried on 14 April 1928 at St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Columbus, Platte County, Nebraska; Rev. Father Isidore, pastor of the church, officiated at the burial services at 9 a.m. at St. Bonaventure Church. St. Anne's Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of America met at the Mayberger home on Thursday, 12 Apr 1928 at 8 p.m. for the rosary. Frances was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.1,5 She was quiet and soft spoken. She made the most wonderful sweet rolls and coffee cake. She made hand work as hair pin knitting (1902). She made a baby jacket when my sister Ervilla Mayberger was born for her baptism. All of us children and also my grand children were baptised in it.6

John Henry Mayberger
     John Henry Mayberger was born on 25 August 1868 at # 28, Girsig.1,2,3 He appeared on the census of 25 June 1870 at Monroe Precint, Platte County, Nebraska.4 Circa 1900 he worked as a rural mail carrier and was also employed on the Union Pacific Railroad. Coming to Humphrey he opened a bicycle and repair shop. This business was located on the lot a block west of the Duesman Furniture store. He later engaged in the painting and paperhanging business and also conducted a watch repair business. He also repaired windmills before he conducted a plumbing and heating business.5 He married Amelia Arlt, daughter of Conrad Arlt and Fredericka Reider, on 4 February 1902 at St. Francis Church, Humphrey, Platte County, Nebraska.6,7 John Henry Mayberger resided before 1 April 1949 at Humphrey, Platte County, Nebraska.8 He was a devout Catholic and was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis and St. Joseph's Men's Society. in December 1949 at Humphrey, Platte County, Nebraska.5 He died on 19 December 1949 at Humphrey, Platte County, Nebraska, at age 81; Card index at the library of the Platte Valley Kinseekers states that he died on 19 dec 1949.9,7 He was buried on 22 December 1949 at St. Francis Cemetery, Humphrey, Platte County, Nebraska; Father Egbert officiated at the funeral services and interment. Pallbearers were Art Mayberger, Joseph Mayberger, Emil Mayberger, Mark Rupprecht, Joe Arlt and William Dake. Honorary pallbearers were John T. Steffes, E.C. Walters, C.J. Frey, William Vanderheiden, C.M. Loeffler and Henry Brockhaus. He is buried in Row 1 - middle.9 All business houses were closed during the hour of the funeral services. Many old friends and neighbors were in attendance to offer their prayers with those of the priest for the repose of his soul on 22 December 1949 at Humphrey, Platte County, Nebraska.

Julia Ellen Mayberger moved to Ames, Dodge County, Nebraska, circa 1897.4 She died on 11 July 1952 at farm near, Ames, Dodge County, Nebraska, at age 87.5 She was buried on 14 July 1952 at Calvary Cemetery, Fremont, Dodge County, Nebraska; Funeral Services were held at 9 A.M. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church where Rev. Paul F. Peter celebrated the Requiem Mass. The rosary was recited at 8 P.M. in the chapel of the Fred Bader Funeral Home.      Mary M Mayberger was born on 30 October 1856 at # 28, Girsig.1,2,3,4 She married Martin Walter, son of Martin Walter and (?) unknown, on 2 October 1876 at Platte County, Nebraska; they were married by J.M. Ryan, Pastor.5 Grandma Walter was the midwife for new mothers and babies. after 1882 at Deloit Township, Clearwater, Antelope County, Nebraska.6 The Walter family went to Ewing to St. Peter's church until St. John's Catholic Church was established in 1910, a mission of the Ewing church. Father Joseph Rose was the first priest. St. John's church is located ten miles south and one mile east of Ewing on a slope of land along the Clearwater Creek, two miles south of the Walter home.6 Mary M Mayberger was educated after 1882 at Pleasant Hill School # 131, Clearwater, Antelope County, Nebraska, It was located 1/2 mile north of their home.6 She and William Walter celebrated on 2 October 1926 at Clearwater, Antelope County, Nebraska. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on October 2, 1931 with all 12 children and their families present. At that time they had 35 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.6 Martin and Mary observed their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary, with fourteen of their fifteen children present for the occasion in 1931 at Ewing, Holt County, Nebraska.7 Mary M Mayberger died on 9 August 1934 at Clearwater, Antelope County, Nebraska, at age 77.6 She was buried after 13 July 1935 at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Holt County, Nebraska, The cemetery is 1/2 mile north of St. John's Church.7
