Ben J Van Ackeren

     Ben J Van Ackeren was born in 1888. He married Katherine McDonald, daughter of Patrick McDonald and Teresa Clare Mayberger, in 1916 at Humphrey, Platte County, Nebraska. Ben J Van Ackeren and Katherine McDonald moved to Seattle, King County, Washington, on 3 August 1930 ; they went with their two sons Donald and Jim, and Mrs. Theresa McDonald. They planned to make their future home there. They first visited with a sister of Mrs. McDonald at Neligh, and from their continued their journey by auto. Mr. Van Acheren has nothing in view for a future occupation but if conditions warrant he may engage in some line of business.1 Ben J Van Ackeren died in 1959.

John Siever

     My brother Clarence knew him well and told me that he was an inventor. Invented the "flush valve". Wished they did not steal it from him as they had done to so many others.1 John Siever resided at Denver, Adams County, Colorado.1 He married Rose Mayberger, daughter of Karl Mehrberger and Anna Muller. John Siever died before April 1996.1

     Martin Walter was born on 28 January 1849.1,4,3 He immigrated in 1869 to Fountain City, Wisconsin; Martin came with his father, sister, stepmother, and stepsister when he was twenty. Martin worked at the cobbler's trade in various towns.5,3 He was employed after 1871 at Winona, Minnesota, Martin followed the cobbler trade, found employment at a shoe shop in Winona Minnesota and later at LaCross, Wisconsin.3 He married Mary M Mayberger, daughter of Karl Mehrberger and Anna Muller, on 2 October 1876 at Platte County, Nebraska; they were married by J.M. Ryan, Pastor.2 Martin Walter resided on 1882 at homestead 8 miles south of Ewing, Ewing, Holt County, Nebraska; he came fom Columbus to the Deloit community to work for his brother-in-law, Martin Savidge. He was soon able to buy the homestead rights from a Negro settler who lived about eight miles south of Ewing. Section 11-9-25 Deloit Township West and South of Clearwarter. Mrs. Walter and three children Anna, William and George came on the train to Clearwater a little later.5,3 Martin and Mary observed their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary, with fourteen of their fifteen children present for the occasion in 1931 at Ewing, Holt County, Nebraska.5 He died on 13 July 1935 at Clearwater, Antelope County, Nebraska, at age 86.3 He was buried after 13 July 1935 at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Holt County, Nebraska, The cemetery is 1/2 mile north of St. John's Church.5 After his grandmother died, he was put in an orphanage until he was 16 years old.3
