He was a longtime member of the Merrick County Historical Museum, he served on the board of the Mid-Nebraska Mental Retardation Service and the Board of Mid-Nebraska Community Mental Health Center and was also a member of the Nebraskans for Peace before 1963.⁷ He was elected to a two year term to the Nebraska Unicameral Legislature in 1963.⁷ He has a broad interest in collecting and preserving artifacts that relate to our past and current history.⁴
